Lethality Assessment

A lethality assessment is an evaluation that predicts the likelihood of serious injuries or death. It provides an easy and effective method to identify victims of domestic violence who are at the highest risk of being seriously injured or killed by their intimate partners. Fearing criticism and judgement, clients often minimize histories of abuse. Lack of understanding (e.g. "If he never it me is it still abuse?") also results in clients normalizing their partner's dangerous behavior. Completing a lethality assessment provides an accurate understanding of the effects of PSV&A.

Power and Control Wheels

The Power and Control Wheel was developed by the Domestic Abuse Intervention Project in Duluth, MN. The wheel provides a diagram of the behaviors and tactics used to maintain coercive control. It serves as a diagram of tactics that an abusive partner uses to keep their victim in a relationship. Check out the Wheel Gallery below for more variations on the original wheel https://www.theduluthmodel.org/wheel-gallery/

Safety Planning

A safety plan is a list of specific steps and actions to optimize safety for victims of IPV and their children. The plan should include detailed information in the event that the violence escalates or there is the individual decides to leave the relationship.
